| For three days, the “European Rail Forum 2009” Congress will focus on the analysis of the development of the interoperability of the EU's Transeuropean Rail Network.
The main projects and investments in main corridors as well as the member state projects will be discussed. Furthermore, the foreseen investment in the public rail transport of the main European cities will
be known directly from the authorities and chief executives of the railway sector. |

The Transport White Paper published by the European Commission in 2001 suggest the development of a railway network for the exclusive use of freight, in order to recover and increase this mode of transport for merchandise and to eliminate the huge traffic congestion in the main corridors.

objectives require € 300 Billion to be spent on TEN-T infrastructure in 2007-2013. For the projects in Central and Eastern Europe railway networks, the required investment will exceed € 70 Billion.
Also, the European Rail Industry Suppliers and Consultancies will have the opportunity, during the Congress, to exchange and compare their views and solutions in order to meet the interoperability challenges. |
| New technologies in rolling stock, track, electrification, railway signalling & communication systems, passengers and freight railway transport needs, modernisation of the railway lines and interconnection of the TEN-T corridor, are among the subjects that will be studied at the “European Rail Forum ” Congress. |
